Reflexology Course
MODULE 1
Introduction: Welcome students and explain course content, Code of Ethics,
Equal Opportunities, Rules and Regulations.

Introduction to Foot and Hand Charts and the History of Reflexology.

Reading the feet and describing locations and findings.

Zone therapy and mapping the reflexes.

MODULE 2

The anatomy and physiology of the Respiratory & Nervous systems.

Treatment sequence and practice of reflexology.

Consultation and listening skills and documentation.

Contra-indications and reactions to treatments.
MODULE 3

The anatomy and physiology of the Circulatory and Lymphatic systems.

Ethics and code of practice and confidentiality.

Choosing clients and discuss case studies so far.

First Aid-Practical instruction from a qualified trainer.

MODULE 4 13th/20th January Time: 10am-5pm

Hand Reflexology map and practice.
MODULE 5

The anatomy and physiology of the Endocrine and the Digestive systems.

Stress management and the importance of breathing, stretching and relaxation techniques.

And Finally, To achieve sufficient standard to practice a certificate will be awarded by THERAPIA only if the following criteria is achieved:
A minimum of 100 clinical treatments (12 Case studies totalling 60 plus 40 one-off treatments) must be completed and all written reports submitted within 1 year from the start of formal tuition.
The way to organise this will be explained during the course but will require you to do approx. 2/3 treatments per week. Ongoing assessment of case practices, assignments and attendance of at least 75%.
This course is accredited by FHT The Federation of Holistic Therapists and qualifies you to be insured and to practice.
NOTE: You will also be given the opportunity to take the Bayly School exam which leads to membership of the British Reflexology Association. (BRA)
BRA endorse THERAPIA’s course. This is externally assessed and consists of a practical exam and a final written paper which will evaluate the standard of Anatomy & Physiology and understanding of the theory and history of Reflexology and will also require at least 75% pass mark.
THEORY
The History of Reflexology - The Zones and Zone Therapy - Hygiene Standards of the Clinic and Therapist Client Reactions & Contra-indications- Care of the Client and professional Ethics - Treatment of young, frail and disabled. Health and Safety / Case Studies- Foot and Hand maps
The Importance of the Consultation and Listening skills. Basic Knowledge of Other Therapies and when to Refer. Practitioner Development, setting up in business, keeping accounts, insurance etc.
ANATOMY and PHYSIOLOGY
This will comprise of 50 hours guided teaching of all aspects of the human body and related diseases. You will learn enough to have confidence in understanding the pathology of disorders and ailments likely to be encountered. The ability to know when it would be necessary to refer to other medical practitioners

Protection and Self Care as a Therapist
Practise of the sequence and techniques of work on both hands and feet
CASE STUDIES/EVALUATION
A minimum of 100 clinical treatments and the written reports must be submitted within 3 months from the end of formal tuition. The way to organise this will be explained during the course but will require you to do approx. 2/3 treatments per week. To achieve sufficient standard to practice a certificate will be awarded by THERAPIA only if the following criteria is achieved: Ongoing assessment of case practises, assignments and attendance of at least 75% Reflexology Practitioner Courses provided by THERAPIA are designed for those who wish to practise with competence and confidence and to further their knowledge of Holistic Healthcare.
The training will require commitment and hard work for at least 10 months, comprising of 7 weekends of tutorials and practical session. This will mean at least 100 hours of guided study and 100 case studies and 3 assignments which will be assessed as the course progresses.
There will be a written exam and a practical/oral assessment on completion of the course. At least 75% is required to pass. The course also includes instruction on other aspects of healthcare relevant to Reflexology, e.g. Health & Safety, Podiatry, First Aid, Self-Care and some guidance on setting up in business.
You will also be given the opportunity to take the Bayly School exam which leads to membership of the B.R.A.
